Castillet Font
Introducing Castillet: My Refined, High-Contrast Sans Serif Typeface
For a considerable time, a distinct vision has brewed within the depths of my mind: a sans serif typeface that effortlessly merges the everlasting elegance of classic typographic design with the sharp vibrancy of the contemporary world. Today, I am thrilled to finally reveal Castillet, a new typeface that brings this vision to life.
Inspired by Form and Function
Castillet emerged from a deep desire to create a sans serif font that feels equally at ease within the pages of upscale fashion magazines as it does on sophisticated websites. Its name pays homage to a sense of place — Castillet is a historic landmark in Perpignan, France, a city that flawlessly blends the old and the new. This duality has been a driving force behind the font's design philosophy.
During the process of crafting the letterforms, I dedicated myself to achieving a remarkable level of contrast between the bold and delicate strokes. This stark contrast infuses Castillet with an air of refinement, while simultaneously bestowing it with captivating visual impact. It demands attention while maintaining an inherent gracefulness.
A Typeface that Harmonizes with Others
Castillet was never meant to exist in isolation. I firmly believe that an outstanding typeface should seamlessly complement other design elements. That is precisely why I meticulously created both a regular and italic variant. Utilize the regular weight for headlines or body text, and then introduce a touch of expressive flair with the italic version — the subtle slant adds a delightful dynamism to any layout.
I envision Castillet harmonizing beautifully with a classic serif font, creating a sophisticated interplay of contrasts. Alternatively, it can be paired with another carefully chosen sans serif typeface to achieve a modern, layered look.
To elevate Castillet even further, I have included over 50 ligatures. These special combinations of characters infuse a playful elegance when activated. They transform conventional letter pairings into fluid, captivating elements — a perfect touch of personality for logos, headlines, or editorial designs.
A Labor of Love
Every curve, every terminal, every ligature in Castillet has undergone meticulous consideration. It is my sincere hope that you will find Castillet to be the ideal tool for enhancing your own design projects. Whether you operate in the realm of fashion, publishing, web design, or any other creative field, I firmly believe that its versatility and timeless appeal will prove invaluable.
